Alpine Village

Alpine Village

Farm the alms in summer. Run the slopes in winter.

First look

Alpine Village in under a minute

The story

Six years in the city. Then Mom's letter.

Grandfather is gone, and his hut at the edge of Bergdorf is yours, if you want it. The alms above the village have gone quiet one by one. The tourists stopped coming the winter the lift broke down.

So you take the post bus up the valley, to the last stop. Dad is waiting. Mom has bread and cheese ready and won't hear a word against it. And Grandfather's axe and pickaxe still cut.

Fell your first spruce. Build a workbench. Reopen the overgrown tracks one by one, and bring the village back to life, one season at a time.

See you up there.

What you'll do

A cosy life, high in the Alps

Gather, farm, fish, fight and build your way up the mountain. Every skill feeds the next, and every alm you open brings something new.

Summer
Rows of crops on the farm alm
Farming

Wake up the farm alm

Clear the old track north of the square and the fertile ground up there is yours. Till it, sow, and water every morning. Milk the cows and turn it into cheese and butter in the alm dairy, then cook the lot into proper Austrian dishes.

  • 7 crops, each with its own seasons, and a greenhouse for the winter
  • Cows, hens, sheep, goats and bees
  • Run the café's kitchen yourself when the guests come in
Winter
Visitors riding a rope tow up your ski slope
Your own ski area

Build the slopes. Then ski them.

Get the old cable car running and the mountain is yours to build on. Lay pistes, put up rope tows and chair lifts, open a café. Visitors come by themselves once there's a lift, and the better your slopes, the more of them come.

  • Blue, red and black runs, moguls, rails and jumps
  • A slalom, a ski jump and a ski school, each with records to beat
  • Put your skis on and carve down it yourself
Danger
A wolf coming out of the deep forest
Adventure

The deep forest, the old mine, the ice cave

The village and the alms are always safe. Danger is something you go looking for: in the deep forest, where boar and wolves don't want visitors, down the old mine floor after floor with only a lamp, and in the ice under the glacier.

  • 16 creatures to face, and something big at the bottom of every dungeon
  • Copper, tin, iron and silver, smelted and forged in workshops you build
  • Better tools and weapons for every skill, from Grandfather's old axe to crystal steel
Explore
The lake on the Seealm
The alms

Open the valley, one alm at a time

Every alm above Bergdorf has gone quiet, and every one you reopen brings something new: a lake full of fish, sheep, goats and bees on the high pasture, waterfalls one under another, and a glacier at the top.

Cosy
Grandfather's hut, furnished
Home

A bare hut, and everything you make of it

The furniture was sold the winter the lift stopped. So you make a workbench from your first wood, then a chest, a table, a bench. Dress yourself in lederhosen or a dirndl, and spend a quiet evening with a rod at the stream.

  • 98 things to make, by hand, at the workbench or on the stove
  • 10 fish to catch in streams and pools
  • Help the villagers with their own requests, and get to know them
Four seasons

The same square, all year round

Blossom in spring, bonfires at midsummer, cows coming down from the alm crowned with flowers, and a winter market under the lamps.

The village square

A spring morning on the square. The bus has just left.

The people of Bergdorf

Everyone has a routine, and an opinion

They open their shops, work their stops, chat on the square, and like some presents a great deal more than others.

Letters from Bergdorf

Hear when there's news

A short letter when something big happens in the valley: a new alm, a trailer, a demo, the day it comes out. No more than once a month.
